For my birthday last month I was gifted a subscription to Birchbox, which if you haven’t heard of before, is a beauty box filled with sample sized treats, delivered to your door once a month. I absolutely love the concept of beauty boxes – you get to try new things and it makes it feel like it’s your birthday again every time you get a new one!
Last year, I had a Glossybox subscription. I decided not to renew it because I wasn’t really using that many of the products, and my dressing table was just overflowing with little sample products. I’d seen a few blog posts/tweets/photos about Birchbox and it looked a little bit different, so I was really excited to try it out.
The first thing I noticed about the products in Birchbox is the brands. I’m all for trying new things and learning about new brands, but I rarely saw a brand I recognised with Glossybox. In this months Birchbox, there’s a lovely Benefit They’re Real Tinted Lash Primer. Benefit are a brand I love and trust, but this is a product I haven’t seen before. And that’s exactly what I want from a beauty box: trusted, recognised brands, with a great new product for me to try. I can’t wait to give this a go.
I’m also super impressed with the Stila Lip Glaze, which is full size rather than sample (yay!). It’s a beautiful glittery pink, and again from a trusted brand. Looking forward to trying that out. There’s also a Pure & Light Organic Skincare Face Cream, and a Huygens Face Scrub, which smells like peppermint and lemon, and is used to purify the skin, leaving you with a ‘long lasting healthy glow’. Sounds good! Finally there’s a Percy & Reed Session Hold Hairspray. It’s humidity resistant and in a cute little 50ml can, so it’s just perfect for taking on holiday.
This months box design is slightly different to the one I had last month, which was your traditional box with a lid. A little neon yellow tray slides out of the pineapple printed shell. It’s just so sweet! How lovely that they are even going as far as to change up the box design?! It just makes it feel like a really special and unique treat. I think I’ll keep it on my desk and use it to store products I need to review!
Have any of you girls tried a Birchbox? Or would you love to give it a go? Let me know in the comments!
